Tuesday Oct 12SARAH GARROD CYANOTYPES and ALTERNATIVE PROCESSESZoom MeetingPRESENTATIONExploring the Anthotype process was one of the best things to come out of Lockdown for me. This process was ‘invented’ by John Herschel around 1841 as he was trying to pave the way for colour photography, it even pre-dates Cyanotype. Up until then the only photos were rusty-coloured black & white . Over a century later, I am branching out from my own rusty-looking black & white to try some colour! In summer, when the darkroom was closed, my little city garden became my darkroom.

My style is based on visualising architecture as art and not as record image. The talk/presentation starts with a short introduction prior to covering various locations around Europe with a few further afield. Also included is the EDIT which shows how light, shadows and shapes can transform record shots into art/graphic style images, this section walks you through from the RAW file to the final image.

Tuesday Mar 22JANE LAZENBY - WORKING WITH TEXTURESZoom meetingPRESENTATIONAnswering all the what and how questions, I go through sourcing and creating textures , how to use blend modes and then 3 different methods of how to apply textures to an image. After a short mid way break, I invite the club to submit random images for a live edit where I will take between 3-5 images and apply textures from my own stock to create final pieces., narrating every click on route. I believe that seeing the process happen 'for real' is very valuable for viewers.

Tuesday Apr 05Light PaintingWest Malling Village HallWorkshopExperimentation with light painting - inspired by David Gilliver. Bring cameras, tripods and lighting tools to experiment with. It'll be unlikely that any images from the session would yield a 20 in a competition - but the evening will be about exploring shooting in a different style. Developing concepts that could be used another time.PRINT #2 OPEN THEME
Tuesday Apr 12Mini BeastiesWest Malling Village HallWorkshopWe’ll get the owner / handler to bring along a selection of different specimens that will hopefully avoid having everyone hiding in the kitchen. We fully realise that we have some phobias - so open to suggestions from those for alternative events ideas going forward. This evening will command a £5 shooters fee - just to alleviate some of the costs. Do be respectful of others and give everyone an opportunity to try and capture some shots. We have some LED panels to utilise, but if anyone has any panels / lighting simple backdrops that could be used. This will be macro / close-up predominantly (or if shooting from the kitchen or through the windows from the playing field a 600mm may be needed).
